continually awed by how american states function like separate countries
I held back on getting my gender changed in the state of Georgia because it required filing a court case and appearing before a judge to prove that I had transitioned enough to warrant calling myself male on my documents. there was a strong possibility they could deny me because I hadn’t undergone any type of surgery (a requirement under Georgia law that is waived only sometimes), despite passing as male 100% of the time.
this morning I went to the Maryland vehicle administration building and they had a touch screen with buttons that said “male” and “female.”
I paused and asked the lady “I can choose male, right?” and she looked at me (again, I’m just some guy with a beard) (and I think she misheard me) and she was like “Oh! Do you want to be female now?” I said no, my Georgia license (directly in front of her) says female, they wouldn’t let me change it, can I be male now?
she said to just pick whichever I wanted. I got my updated license in 5 minutes.

today a small group of around 80 pro palestine protesters managed to shut down the bay bridge, which connects the cities of san francisco and oakland, for 6 hours.
their strategy? they parked their cars in a horizontal line to block west bound traffic, and then proceeded to throw their keys into the water bellow.
joe biden is currently visiting san francisco for the apec summit.
yeah, people do lie on the internet, however i am so passionate about things that if i lie it will feel like i committed an autistic sin
if i just accidentally say something wrong i panic tbh catch me putting “to my knowledge” and “from what i remember” disclaimers on everything to account for human error
From what I remember, 1 + 1 = 2. I think. Not an expert though, feel free to fact check me! This is just an educated guess.

is the tgirl wearing a collar doing it because she has a fetish, or just because it’s a cute accessory? is the gay man in leather and a pup mask actually being “indecent” or is he just dressed up like a dog because it’s fun? are drag queens doing it because crossdressing is sexy or because drag is an expression of who they are as a person? does the furry walking around in full suit have a boner under their outfit or do they just like cosplaying as their cute cartoon squirrel oc?
you will never know. you can never tell. sometimes even the people doing these things won’t have an answer. is it a sex thing? is it kink? who fucking knows! there is no line! public expressions of sexuality aren’t immoral to begin with, but if you make any attempt to suppress them, you have to decide what is and isn’t allowed, and you are going to get it wrong. there is no way to untangle kink from personality and hobbies and interests. kink does not even necessarily involve sex. sometimes it’s just self-expression and vulnerability and sharing a particular dynamic with another person. sounds a lot like (checks notes) literally every other human experience that exists.
i’ll say it again: the person wearing a leash in your vicinity is not sexually assaulting you. they’re just wearing a leash.

While all of Europe is responsible, I think it’s also important for people from the UK to acknowledge the particular and direct culpability of our government in what has happened in Israel and Palestine - mostly because it never is. Politicians don’t mention it, the media never mentions it, they tell you nothing about it in school, no one talks about it. I was just saying exactly the same thing about India, but if you ask an average British person if they think their country did a good job of ruling Palestine you’ll get a blank stare, maybe they’ll pull a massively uninformed opinion out of their arse, I doubt many could tell you exactly when it was. But the fact is that when Britain assumed control of the Holy land in 1918 both Zionism and Palestinian nationalism were relatively minor concerns, and when we left in 1948 there was a civil war raging between those two sides. All of the important seeds of the conflict were sown and took root while Britain was in charge. The first major Palestinian uprising of 1936-39 was an anti-colonial struggle against the British Empire.
But today, watching the news, British people are like ‘wow guess we’ll never understand why Jews and Arabs just naturally hate each other’… just like those Hindus and Muslims in India and Pakistan, and those Catholics and Protestants in Northern Ireland’….. and all of those other places on earth where the legacy of British occupation and partition is division, violence and misery. The Empire is not a distant memory we can feel vaguely proud and nostalgic about (as most British people apparently do) it was a global crime of almost unimaginable proportions and it’s still (in some cases quite literally) blowing up in our faces.
